Leaves & Lettering - A Nature Inspired Workshop February 24 & 25 10:30am - 1:30pm Spanish Point
Create art using live leaves from the gardens and print them into beautiful designs. We will use decorative lettering techniques to add your favorite phrase. Afterwards, you will paint and print a coordinated mat to complement your nature themed art so it is ready to hang. No experience necessary.
The Abstract Art of Robert Mapplethorpe - Special Spring Art Exhibition Workshop March 17 & 18 10:30am - 1:30pm Selby Gardens
Create abstract floral art using Mapplethorpe's floral photography as inspiration. Students will create hand-dyed papers and use linework techniques to create mixed-media paintings. Other art materials will be employed to enhance these dynamic expressions of still-life florals. No experience necessary.

Composition and design will be at the forefront while creating semi-abstract paintings that you will develop in class. You will have the ability to use mixed media materials in your art. If you have wanted to explore different media then this class is for you! We will combine our watercolor with acrylic and collage. We will also use stencils, pastes, C'aran Dache watercolor crayons, pastels, ink and hand colored papers. In each class I will be suggesting different formats, mediums and compositions while guiding you on your painting experience. I will be here to help you along the way. I hope you decide to join us. About the artist:
Clare Godleski has been making and teaching art to adults for over 25 years. She teaches out of her studios in NJ and Florida. She also travel teaches art retreats such as this. Clare’s work reflects bold use of color and design. She prefers not to limit herself to only one medium. Through the use of many mediums, she can create beautiful and unique paintings that are sure to capture the viewer’s attention.
Her work has been sold and shown in Galleries in Sarasota, Florida and also in many other venues such as restaurants and community/public places. Her work is also owned by private collectors.

Abstract Art in Watercolor and Mixed Media with Borucan Tribal Mask Influence
Students will use watercolor and mixed media to create an abstract/semi - abstract watercolor painting that is influenced by the magnificent colors of the Borucan Tribal masks. Mixed media will be incorporated into the paintings allowing the students to use their imagination to create a one-of-a-kind original painting. Includes all supplies all materials - watercolors, mixed media, paper, brushes, etc.

Free Form Florals in Watercolor with Decorative Lettering
Students will use watercolors to create floral designs on watercolor paper using a wet-in-wet technique. The students will then be instructed on how to create beautiful lettering. The lettering is used to write over the watercolors and create a beautiful watercolor art piece that will be put into a colorful mat suitable for framing. Includes all materials - watercolors, papers, brushes, mats, etc.
